Fantasy Performers of the Week
Deebo Samuel - 34.00 points
Deebo set a new NFL record for wide receivers with his 19th career rushing touchdown in the 49ers' 28-16 win over the Seahawks. He notched 2 touchdowns in the game, including a dazzling 54-yard score, and amassed 149 yards from seven receptions.
Evan Engram - 32.50 points
Engram had an outstanding performance in the Jaguars' game against the Cleveland Browns. He racked up 11 receptions for a solid 95 yards and scored 2 touchdowns on 12 targets.
Drake London - 29.20 points
Not someone we are gonna see on here very often, but London ended with 10 catches on 172 total receiving yards. He even added a 2 point conversion catch at the end of the game. Of course I was playing against him in fantasy this week (still got the dub tho).
Vikings beat Saints 3-0
So yeah that wasn’t a typo there. I didn’t mean to say 30-0 or 30-10, I actually meant to write 3-0…
With that high score of 3 total points that ties the lowest scoring game in NFL history. And this game winning field goal came with under 2 minutes left in the game. It felt like neither team was going to score the entire game. Which obviously made people think “has a game ever ended with a score of 0-0.?” And the answer is no. At this point when I found this out I was cheering for no one to score because how cool would that have been. But ultimately that dream died and the vikings knocked in a field goal to silence the Las Vegas crowd and get the win.
Justin Jefferson was the story of the game when he was sent to locker room only minutes into the start of the game. He apparently went because of a chest injury and then was ruled out for the remainder of the game. I am very sorry to all his fantasy managers out there. This man has truly ruined your season and possibly your playoff hopes this week.
The Timberwolves Have Been On Fire
Flashback to July 6th 2022, the news of Rudy Gobert being sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves was announced. When looking at the trade my first thought was “wow that is a lot of players and picks for a guy that has the actual offensive skill of my little sister.” And it really was a lot at the time. The Timberwolves already had Karl-Anthony-Towns and Anthony Edwards, and they were looking to complete their team and make a run for the Finals.
But it didn’t exactly turn out that way…
Karl-Anthony-Towns was injured most of the year and Rudy Gobert really struggled and wasn’t making a huge impact like he normally does on the defensive end. Edwards was just starting to become a star, but wasn’t really there just yet. And what made it even worse was Walker Kessler, who was one of the players that the Wolves traded away for Gobert, was looking like a future star center in Utah. Wolves fans had lost hope in the team that they built and didn’t think they were gonna amount to anything. And if this team didn’t work then that meant you weren’t gonna win anytime soon because the Wolves basically traded away their whole future of draft picks. But then came the 2023 season…
So far this 2023-2024 NBA season the Timberwolves have the best record in the NBA. They have started this year 17-4 and have showed no signs of slowly down. Anthony Edwards has really shown that he can be a star in this league averaging 24.4 points a night. Rudy Gobert has been the defensive presence he has been in past years, Towns is playing like his old self, Mike Conley has been the teams distributer, and Jaden Mcdaniels has been playing lockdown defense every night. They have been playing really well together and it will be interesting to see if they can keep this up the rest of the season. Are they possible Finals contenders??
Lebron James In Season Tournament MVP
Not gonna lie I was pulling for the Pacers all tournament long and was really hoping they were gonna win this one. The Pacers kept it close in the first half even with Tyrese Haliburton playing awful with only 7 points. However, in the second half Anthony Davis took over and got Pacers center Myles Turner in foul trouble and then ultimately fouled him out of the game.
Lakers ended up winning the game in Vegas 123-109, and with that winning the first in season tournament ever. Lebron James also played well, finishing the game with 24 points and 11 rebounds. He ended up winning the MVP of the game. A little confused about that when Anthony Davis had 41 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks. But I guess Lebron is gonna get whatever he wants and the NBA is gonna try and help his quest to be “the best player ever” even though at this point it is over for him and he will never be. Sorry Lebron fans.
